Sokoto Rep Dasuki Advocates for N150,000 Minimum Wage

Abdussamad Dasuki, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kebbi Tambuwal Federal Constituency, asserted that the federal allocation to Sokoto State is adequate to support the payment of a minimum wage of N150,000 for civil servants. He highlighted that this wage increase would significantly enhance social services and infrastructure.

Dasuki noted that Sokoto State has seen a substantial increase in federal allocations over the past three years, particularly in the last quarter of 2023, creating opportunities for development across critical sectors. He addressed challenges in healthcare, education, and agriculture, advocating for prudent resource management to improve the welfare of workers amid rising living costs.

Dasuki also called for better pension benefits for retired civil servants and emphasized the importance of civic engagement in the upcoming 2027 elections. He announced initiatives targeting youth, including a digital skills acquisition program supported by NITDA, and plans to provide laptops to 70 students in higher education as part of efforts to promote digital literacy.
