Sokoto First Lady Launches Aid for 3,000 Women

On Saturday, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, the Wife of the Sokoto State Governor, flagged off the distribution of cash grants and food assistance to 3,000 women and other vulnerable groups across the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State. This initiative is designed to mitigate the effects of economic hardship and enhance the welfare of vulnerable citizens, particularly women.

During the ceremony, Dr. Fatima Aliyu emphasized the administration's commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society. She recalled a similar exercise conducted on July 7, 2026, which also provided food and cash assistance.

The latest intervention complements various support programs implemented over the past three years for the needy, including persons with disabilities and internally displaced persons. Dr. Fatima Aliyu expressed hope that such initiatives would reduce reliance on begging and empower women economically.

She acknowledged the contributions of the Renewed Hope Initiative led by Senator Oluremi Tinubu and urged beneficiaries to use the support responsibly for their families and income-generating activities.
