Sokoto State Commits to Sustaining CARE-2 Project Efforts

The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainability of the CARE-2 Project, which focuses on supporting individuals living with HIV/AIDS and enhancing HIV prevention and screening services. This commitment was articulated during a courtesy visit by the CARE-2 Project team to the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar, on Tuesday.

Dr Abubakar praised the project's successful implementation and acknowledged the recommendations made by the team, promising that the government would take necessary steps for their implementation. Dr Sada Ibrahim Durbawa, Special Adviser to the Governor on the Sokoto State AIDS Control Agency (SOSACA), indicated that measures would be taken to enforce premarital HIV screening to promote early detection and prevention.

Dr Hamza Dahiru, the state team leader of the CARE-2 project, expressed gratitude for the support received from the Sokoto State Government, which was crucial for the project's success. The meeting included other stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of continuing the project's interventions.
