Sokoto PDP Denies Goronyo's Resignation Claim

The Sokoto State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed the recent resignation claim of its former chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Bello Goronyo, stating that he ceased to be the party's leader nine months ago. Hon. Hayatu Tafida Aminu, the State Chairman, informed journalists that Goronyo's resignation letter, dated August 30, 2026, was irrelevant as he had already lost his position following a Supreme Court ruling against the Turaki-led faction of the party.

This ruling led to new congresses being held across the state, resulting in the election of new party executives. Goronyo has since been appointed as the Campaign Director for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State.

Tafida emphasized that the PDP remains strong and is preparing for the 2027 general elections, while also criticizing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its governance, questioning the effectiveness of its use of federal allocations.
