Sokoto State Urges NYSC Members to Drive Community Development

On Wednesday, during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp in Farfaru, Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State urged corps members to become agents of development in their host communities. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, the governor encouraged the corps members to view their service as an opportunity to apply their skills to national development challenges, including youth unemployment, poverty, and rising crime.

He emphasized the importance of respecting local cultures and laws while assuring the corps members of their security and welfare during their service year. NYSC State Coordinator Mr Tyoyer Gabriel Ter praised the corps members for their conduct and encouraged active participation in camp activities.

The ceremony included the administration of the oath of allegiance by Justice Ibrahim Tambuwal, representing the Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Muhammad Saidu Sifawa, with corps members pledging loyalty and dedication to Nigeria.
