Soldiers Thwart Terrorist Advance in Sokoto Community

On Sunday, August 30, troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully foiled an attempted advance by armed terrorists towards Ghandi town in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of the armed group, the troops swiftly deployed to strategic positions near Ghandi Bridge.

Upon contact, they engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, compelling the attackers to retreat in disarray. Several insurgents sustained gunshot wounds and attempted to escape by jumping into a nearby river.

Following the engagement, a clearance and search operation conducted at daybreak led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one loaded magazine, additional rounds of ammunition, and various personal effects left behind by the fleeing terrorists. The troops secured the recovered items and continued search and mop-up operations aimed at tracking down the fleeing suspects and preventing further threats to residents of Ghandi and neighboring communities.

This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat terrorist activities and restore security in Sokoto State.
