Troops Foil Boko Haram Kidnap Attempt in Yobe State

On July 19, troops from Operation HADIN KAI and Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully foiled a Boko Haram/ISWAP mission aimed at extorting money from communities in Yobe State. Acting on intelligence, troops from Sector 2, based at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bukarti, in collaboration with the 27 Task Force Brigade, intercepted the suspects who were traveling in two Volkswagen Golf cars and on motorcycles.

A gun battle ensued along the Paya Kafiya axis, resulting in the death of one terrorist, while four others escaped into the bush with gunshot wounds. The troops managed to recover an abandoned vehicle, which contained 25 rounds of belted PKT ammunition, a loaded AK-47 magazine, 15 empty PKT ammunition cases, assorted drugs, and mechanical tools believed to support terrorist operations.

This operation is part of ongoing military offensives against terrorism in the North-East and North-West regions of Nigeria.
