Nigerian Army Intercepts Drug Truck on Lagos-Calabar Road

On July 9, troops from the Nigerian Army's 65 Battalion, under the command of Maj. Gen. Adebayo Babalola of the 81 Division, intercepted a truck transporting illicit drugs along the Lagos-Calabar coastal road. The operation was based on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of the truck's driver.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the driver could not provide satisfactory information regarding the ownership of the drugs or their intended recipient. The recovered drugs have been handed over to the Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya, the spokesman for the 81 Division, commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, urging them to sustain ongoing operations to combat drug trafficking and deny criminal elements freedom of action within the division's area of responsibility.
