NDLEA Seizes 1.6M Tramadol Pills, Arrests Multiple Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced the interception of 1,630,000 tramadol pills, each 250mg, concealed beneath the cargo floor of two trailers traveling from Lagos to Kano. The operation, led by Femi Babafemi, involved the arrest of several suspects, including an 80-year-old drug dealer, Chika Ugwoji, from Rivers State.

The NDLEA's intelligence-led operations also revealed that the intercepted consignments belonged to a transnational drug trafficking syndicate operating along the Togo-Benin-Nigeria corridor. The agency previously intercepted 558,900 pills on July 2 and 777,000 pills on July 4, with arrests made of drivers Jabir Kabiru and Muham Nuhu.

Additional operations led to the seizure of 70 kilograms of synthetic cannabis and the arrest of Chioma Nneka Mokem, the owner of a related consignment. The NDLEA continues its efforts against drug trafficking and abuse, with ongoing investigations into the syndicate's operations.
