Troops Intercept Illicit Drugs on Lagos-Calabar Road

On July 9, 2026, troops from the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army successfully intercepted a truckload of illicit drugs along the Lagos-Calabar coastal road. This operation was a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, following credible intelligence that led to the interception.

The driver of the truck was arrested, but he reportedly failed to provide satisfactory information regarding the ownership of the drugs or the intended recipient. Preliminary investigations indicated that the drugs were being transported to the Berger area of Lagos State.
