Soldiers Arrest 46 Suspected Illegal Immigrants in Ogun

On June 11, 2026, soldiers from the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), apprehended 46 suspected illegal immigrants in Ogun State. The operation targeted various locations within Ijebu Imushin and Ijebu Iles.

Among the arrested individuals were 18 nationals from Burkina Faso, 23 citizens of Côte d'Ivoire, 4 nationals from Togo, and 1 from Senegal, comprising 36 males and 10 females. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly resided in Ogun State for approximately six months without valid immigration documents.

During interrogation, the suspects claimed to be merchant workers affiliated with Qnet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various commodities. The suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service Ogun State Command for further investigation and appropriate administrative action.

Brigadier General Fridai Oguch Onu commended the troops for their collaboration with security agencies and urged residents to remain security conscious.
