Soldiers Raid Terrorist Hideouts in Sokoto, Recover Arms

Troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7, part of Sector 2 in Operation FANSAN YAMMA, executed a clearance operation in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, targeting terrorist hideouts. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist enclaves and restore security in the North-West.

According to a statement from Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, the spokesman for Sector 2, the troops advanced through identified terrorist threat areas, including the villages of Manu, Alkasim, and Kandam, as well as the Magarya Forest axis. During the operation, the troops engaged in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Magarya Forest, successfully forcing them to retreat.

The follow-up operations led to the recovery of a PKT machine gun, AK-47 rifles, a significant quantity of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, several motorcycles, and various logistical items. The military emphasized that these recoveries would diminish the terrorists' operational capabilities and that the troops would maintain a strong presence to prevent any regrouping of the terrorists and ensure the security of surrounding communities.
