Soludo Rejects Public Funds for Catholic Knights' Regalia

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo declined a request from the Catholic Knights for public funding to sew regalia for its members, stating that public funds cannot be deployed for private institutions.

This statement was made during his address at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Awka on a Sunday when the Knights celebrated their annual event.

While rejecting the request for uniforms, Soludo offered support for charitable visits to orphanages. He emphasized the importance of the Knights adhering to principles of humility, courage, and community engagement rather than seeking elitist titles.

Additionally, he commended the leadership of the church for promoting the common good and highlighted the success of Anambra State's burial law aimed at curbing excessive pomp associated with burials. Soludo also announced an intensified crackdown on fake pastors exploiting vulnerable individuals, with several suspects already in custody.
