Olayinka Critiques Presidential Candidates for 2027 Elections

Lere Olayinka, the spokesperson for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, criticized several presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 elections, asserting that many are not in the race to win. During an interview on Arise News, Olayinka stated that some candidates are merely participating to register their presence.

He specifically pointed out Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), who received only 14,600 votes in the 2023 elections, questioning how he could expect to win in 2027. Olayinka also expressed skepticism about Peter Obi, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that the party lacks sufficient grassroots presence, having not fielded candidates in 15 states.

He emphasized the importance of having personnel at polling units for effective election management, noting that Nigeria has 176,846 polling units and recommending at least five people to manage each unit.
