13-Year-Old Sonma Nwoko Launches Art Exhibition UNBOUND

Sonma Chinye Nwoko, a 13-year-old visual artist, officially launched her debut solo art exhibition titled UNBOUND on Sunday at Soto Gallery, a cultural hub in Ikoyi, Lagos. The exhibition, described as “the first chapter” of her creative storytelling, showcases 60 works inspired by nature, emotions, and the experiences of young people.

Sonma’s art reflects her journey as an artist, exploring themes of faith, confidence, and resilience. She encourages young creatives to practice and step outside their comfort zones despite setbacks.

Dr. Fejiro Chinye Nwoko, Sonma's mother, shared insights into her daughter's artistic journey, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and nurturing children's creative talents. She noted that Sonma's art has always told a story, and they provided the necessary support for her to develop her gift.

The exhibition aims to inspire self-awareness and creative expression among young people facing societal pressures to conform.
