Faith Omole Unveils Symbolic Art at ÀÀMÌ Exhibition

Faith Omole's first solo exhibition, titled ÀÀMÌ, opened on August 22 at The Art Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, presented by Fehinti Contemporary. The exhibition features 12 paintings that utilize neon-like motifs reminiscent of Nsibidi writing and contemporary street art, set against a deep violet backdrop.

Omole's works invite viewers to explore themes of identity, memory, and cultural inheritance, encouraging personal interpretations of the symbols displayed. The title ÀÀMÌ, a Yoruba word meaning sign, mark, or symbol, reflects the exhibition's focus on the meanings behind visual marks.

Omole, largely self-taught, draws from her experiences, including the loss of her father at age two, to explore vulnerability, trust, and healing through her art. The exhibition is supported by Svetlo, Sevigram, Vascan, Mirthline, Creative Co., and Iwalewa Gallery of Arts, and aims to foster a deeper understanding of the connections between human experiences and visual language.
