PDP Urges INEC for Credible Elections in Southeast

The southeast zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidates have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to create a level playing field for the upcoming general elections. This demand was articulated in a communiqué signed by Chief Ray Nnaji, the National Vice Chairman, and Hon Mike Ahumibe, the Secretary, along with three gubernatorial candidates from Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu states.

The party expressed concerns regarding the high debt burden and neglect of rural areas and pensioners in Abia State, as well as the poor performance of the Ebonyi State government. They criticized the recent bye-election in Enugu State for being marred by violence and thuggery, attributing this to the incumbent government.

The PDP stated that the current governors of Enugu and Ebonyi states are "un-electable" due to their abysmal performance and elitist governance approach. The party remains optimistic about winning the 2027 general elections, asserting its strong grassroots presence in the southeast.
