Sowore faults Ibom Air over humiliation of passenger accused of slapping flight attendant

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress for the 2023 election, criticized Ibom Air for the alleged mistreatment of a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, who was accused of slapping a flight attendant. Sowore claimed that many flight attendants in Nigeria treat passengers poorly, lacking courtesy and respect.

He argued that the practice of restricting phone usage on flights is outdated, citing his experience in the United States where he was able to livestream a landing without interference. Sowore condemned the treatment of Emmanson as public humiliation, stripping her of dignity and potentially causing lasting trauma.

He also criticized the arbitrary legal persecution of Emmanson, alleging that she was ambushed and sent to prison without due process. Sowore highlighted a systemic culture of abuse, humiliation, and selective justice in Nigeria, where customer service and court systems are lacking.
