Lamine Yamal Condemns Racism in Spain vs. Egypt Match

During a friendly match between Spain and Egypt at RCDE Stadium in Barcelona on Tuesday, Lamine Yamal condemned racist chants that were heard in the stadium. The match ended in a 0-0 draw, and the Spanish Football Federation issued a statement on social media condemning the behavior.

Coach Luis de la Fuente also criticized the chants, which echoed in the stadium during the first half. A warning against such behavior was displayed on the stadium screen at halftime.

The incident prompted whistling from a section of the crowd early in the second half. Yamal, who is 18 years old, expressed his disapproval on Instagram.

This match was part of Spain's preparations for the 2024 European Championship, and Yamal made his 26th appearance for the national side. The match was moved to Barcelona due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and Spain made ten changes from their previous match, a 3-0 win against Serbia.

The draw caused Spain to drop from the top spot in the FIFA world rankings.
