SPPG Launches Synit Safe App for Crime Reporting

The SPPG unveiled the Synit Safe app for real-time crime reporting in Abuja on Thursday. Uch Ekeledo, the group team lead, explained that the platform aims to bridge the information gap between citizens and security agencies, thereby enhancing emergency response.

The app allows users to report incidents and view security situations around them in less than five seconds, automatically capturing the location of the report. This initiative is expected to improve the quality of intelligence available to security agencies by aggregating multiple reports from various locations.

Alhaji Jamiu Abiola, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistic Matters, commended the initiative, describing it as an example of Nigerians developing homegrown solutions to national challenges. He noted that the Tinubu administration is interested in exploring collaborative opportunities with the platform.

The app will also consider integrating a USSD reporting option in its second phase to address connectivity issues in rural communities.
