Stakeholders Discuss "Dig Once" Policy for Infrastructure

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) held its second stakeholder forum to review the proposed "Dig Once" policy framework, which aims to reduce costs associated with infrastructure deployment in Nigeria. Ayuba Shuaibu, Director of Policy at NCC, emphasized the importance of the first forum in shaping the study's direction and reaching a critical stage for consultation.

The forum provided stakeholders with the opportunity to interrogate the assumptions of the model output from the study, with expectations that feedback will refine the proposed framework to ensure practical implementation within Nigeria's telecommunications landscape. Akpevwe Egbelugh, who addressed the forum, highlighted that modern economies increasingly depend on resilient and affordable access to digital infrastructure.

The discussions focused on ensuring equal visibility and access management across jurisdictions, demonstrating that an open access infrastructure model can significantly reduce deployment costs and enhance broadband availability in the market.
