Stakeholders Endorse Hybrid Model for Nigeria's Digital Switch

Stakeholders convened in Abuja to endorse a hybrid model for Nigeria's digital switch, a significant step in the long-delayed digital switchover (DSO) project. The meeting, chaired by Alhaji Moham Idri, included representatives from the National Broadcast Commission (NBC), Nigerian Communications Satellite (NigComSat), and various industry players.

Mr. Charl Ebuebu, the Director General of NBC, described the meeting as a turning point in Nigeria's digital migration efforts, which have faced multiple deadlines. The stakeholders acknowledged the necessity of the DSO project and emphasized the importance of prioritizing national interests, local content development, and job creation.

They agreed on the need to reconstitute the DigiTeam to facilitate collaboration among industry participants. The meeting attracted 128 participants and called for quarterly engagements to ensure alignment on strategies.

Additionally, stakeholders assured that NigComSat would provide reliable satellite infrastructure to support the DSO platform.
