ABA League Enters Knockout Stage, Attracts Stakeholder Praise

The inaugural Amateur Basketball Academies (ABA) League is currently underway at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, entering its knockout stage with more than 500 young players competing. The league, which features 40 academy teams (20 boys’ and 20 girls’), aims to provide a competitive platform for young talents and facilitate their exposure to coaches and scouts.

Stakeholders, including former Nigerian international basketball player Sam Oguche and Abdulmajid Solademi, founder of Air Warriors Basketball Club, have praised the league for its focus on grassroots development. Solademi expressed optimism about the future of Nigerian basketball, emphasizing the potential of the country's large population to produce talented players if given proper opportunities.

Oguche has been present since the league's inception and commended the structured platform for competitive experience it offers to young players. The ABA League is seen as a significant step towards nurturing future basketball stars in Nigeria.
