Presidency Urges Caution in Discussing Security Matters

The Nigerian Presidency, represented by Special Adviser on Information Strategy Bayo Onanuga, has responded to Senator Ali Ndume's public comments regarding security issues in Borno State. Onanuga cautioned Ndume against discussing sensitive security matters in public forums, urging him instead to relay information directly to relevant security authorities.

This statement came after Ndume alleged that terrorist groups were operating within local communities and expressed frustration over the current state of security. Onanuga emphasized that credible intelligence should be communicated directly to security agencies to avoid undermining ongoing operations.

He defended the administration's efforts to strengthen military capabilities, citing significant investments and recent approvals for logistical support for troops. The context of this exchange follows a suicide bombing in Maiduguri on March 16, which resulted in 23 deaths and over 100 injuries.

President Bola Tinubu has ordered enhanced military operations in the region to counter insurgency.
