Presidency Criticizes Peter Obi's Election Claims

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, responded to Peter Obi's claims of winning the 2023 presidential election during an interview on Channels Television. Onanuga urged Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to stop living in denial, asserting that Obi came in a distant third in the election.

He described Obi's interview as a "PR" disaster and highlighted two main issues: Obi's attempt to downplay his political history and his continued assertion of having won the election despite the Supreme Court dismissing his petition over three years ago. Onanuga emphasized that while Obi performed well, he lacked a solid political structure and should accept the reality of his electoral loss instead of echoing sentiments from his supporters.
