Reps Minority Caucus Criticizes Tinubu's EFCC Directive

On Friday, the Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the freezing of Osun State Government's bank accounts. The caucus, led by Hon.

Fredrick Agbedi and spokesman Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, described the directive as a "panicky, belated afterthought" that revealed contradictions within the Tinubu administration.

They argued that the directive was a response to public outcry rather than a commitment to the rule of law. The caucus highlighted discrepancies between statements made by EFCC spokesman Mr.

Wilson Uwujaren, who claimed the freezing occurred without a valid court order, and the President's later directive to vacate the order. They accused the administration of a sustained campaign of intimidation against Osun State, asserting that the actions reflect a broader strategy to undermine opposition states ahead of the 2027 elections.

The caucus called for an environment where the people of Osun can exercise their voting rights freely.
