Lagos APC Chair Discusses Use of Increased Allocations

Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, revealed that state and local governments are utilizing increased federal allocations resulting from the removal of petrol subsidy for various developmental projects. During the inauguration of projects and empowerment programs to commemorate the first anniversary of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Chairman Olalekan Olu-Akindipe, Ojelabi emphasized that the funds are directed towards infrastructure, education, and poverty reduction initiatives.

He asserted that the removal of the subsidy has allowed for more resources to be available for these purposes. Ojelabi also stated that President Bola Tinubu would not reinstate the subsidy, labeling it a financial burden on the government.

He countered Atiku Abubakar's calls for a targeted subsidy restoration, arguing that the previous subsidy primarily benefited wealthy Nigerians. Ojelabi praised Olu-Akindipe's performance in office and acknowledged ongoing challenges in security under the Tinubu administration.
