Sanwo-Olu: Subsidy Removal Boosts State Allocations

At the 7th yearly lecture of Freedom Online, themed “2027 Elections: Economy, Security and Nigeria’s Future,” Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remarked on the positive impact of subsidy removal on state allocations. He noted that since the subsidy was lifted, states and local governments have received increased financial resources, enabling them to enhance development projects and citizen welfare.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the Federal Government has fulfilled its role by providing these funds, and it is now the responsibility of state and local governments to utilize them effectively. He stated that Nigerians have become adept at evaluating government performance based on public spending impacts.

Additionally, he praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commendable reaction to the recent Osun State governorship election, where the APC candidate lost, highlighting the importance of credible electoral processes. Sanwo-Olu asserted that no political mandate justifies loss of life and called for unity and accountability in governance.
