Sultan Urges Investigation into Army Officer's Killing

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has demanded an immediate investigation into the killing of Army officer Col. Abdussalam Ude. In a statement issued on Wednesday by Prince Bashir Adefaka, the Sultan condemned ongoing discrimination against minority Igbo Muslims in the South-East and called for an end to attacks on religious minorities.

He described the hostility towards Igbo Muslims as detrimental to national unity and urged the Federal Government and the Armed Forces to investigate the circumstances of Ude's death, which reportedly occurred at his residence in Abuja. The Sultan emphasized that failing to investigate the killing of any Nigerian, especially a military officer, would undermine nation-building efforts.

He insisted that the causes of the killing and any threats to Ude's family must be thoroughly examined, stating that allowing such acts to go unpunished is unacceptable for a serious nation.
