Sultan Calls for Investigation into Army Officer's Killing

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has demanded an immediate investigation into the killing of Army officer Col. Abdussalam Ude, who was reportedly assassinated at his residence in Abuja. In a statement issued on Wednesday by Prince Bashir Adefaka, the Sultan condemned ongoing hate and discrimination against minority Igbo Muslims in the South-East and called for an end to attacks on religious minorities.

He emphasized that the Federal Government and the Armed Forces must collaborate to determine the circumstances surrounding the officer's death, which he described as a setback to national unity. The Sultan stated that failing to investigate the killing of any Nigerian, particularly a military officer, undermines nation-building efforts.

He urged for accountability to prevent future occurrences and prayed for the deceased officer's soul. The incident reportedly occurred during a suspected kidnap attempt at Ude's residence in Badna, New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Monday night.
