Baba Ijesha Reveals Igboho's Support During Detention

Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, disclosed that Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation activist, sent him money and arranged phone calls while both were in detention. This revelation occurred during a meeting celebrating Igboho's birthday, attended by Baba Ijesha and veteran broadcaster Kolo Olootu.
Baba Ijesha explained that Igboho would contact prison officials to facilitate their calls, stating, “He used to send money to me. He would call the prison authorities and ask them to give me the phone.” Igboho confirmed their communication, noting that while he was detained in Cotonou, Baba Ijesha was imprisoned in Nigeria.
Baba Ijesha was released from prison in November 2025 after serving over three years for a conviction related to the sexual assault of a minor. His release followed a Court of Appeal decision that overturned parts of the Lagos State High Court's judgment, which had sentenced him to 16 years in prison in July 2022.
