Sunderland Signs Belgium Defender Thomas Meunier

Thomas Meunier, a 34-year-old defender who represented Belgium in the World Cup, has signed a two-year contract with Sunderland following his departure from Lille. Meunier joined Sunderland on a free transfer and was approached by the club as part of their project to compete in the Premier League, which he views as a significant step in his career.

Last season, he made 35 competitive appearances for Lille. Prior to his time at Lille, Meunier spent four years with Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, accumulating 83 caps for the Belgium national team.

Meanwhile, Harry Winks has joined Serie A side Cagliari after Leicester City's relegation, having made 34 appearances in the Championship last season.
