Super Falcons' Ashleigh Plumptre Undergoes Surgery

Ashleigh Plumptre, a defender for the Super Falcons, has successfully undergone surgery for a foot injury, as confirmed by her club, Al Ittihad. The 31-year-old player has begun her rehabilitation under the supervision of the club's medical staff and is expected to be sidelined for several months.

Plumptre, a former Leicester City Women player, was part of the Super Falcons squad that won the last Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco. Her injury has ruled her out of the 2024 Summer Olympics scheduled to be held in Paris, France.

Additionally, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has recently postponed the 2026 WAFCON final, which was originally scheduled for July.
