Supreme Court Directives for Appeals Effective September 2026

On September 10, 2026, the Supreme Court of Nigeria will implement new directives for legal practitioners concerning pending appeals. The directives, signed by Chief Registrar Mr.

Kabir E. Akanbi, require counsels to upload relevant court processes to the Nigerian Case Management System (NCM) to ensure compliance with Rule 10.1 of the Supreme Court Practice Directions 2026.

The court has mandated that counsels access the list of appeal motions scheduled for hearing between September and December 2026. Furthermore, counsels are required to upload all relevant files and documents related to their matters, including records of appeal and briefs of argument, no later than thirty (30) days before the scheduled hearing date.

The Supreme Court has urged strict compliance with these directives to facilitate the seamless operation of the NCM and ensure timely determination of cases.
