Supreme Court Directs Lawyers to Upload Appeal Documents

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has issued a directive requiring legal practitioners to upload appeal documents within 30 days of the scheduled hearing date, which is set between September and December 2026. This requirement is part of the newly introduced digital platform that aims to enhance the court's ongoing transition to an electronic case management system.

The directive, issued by Chief Registrar Kabir Akanbi, is mandatory for all appeal motions listed within the specified period. Lawyers are advised to visit the Supreme Court's website to access the schedule of matters already fixed for hearing.

This initiative is part of a broader judicial reform aimed at improving the administration of justice across the country. The electronic filing system was officially launched on July 1, 2026, under the leadership of Chief Justice Kudirat Keker Ekun, and is expected to facilitate faster case processing, reduce administrative delays, and improve access to court records for legal practitioners and stakeholders.
