Parliament Support Network Backs Chinda Against Disqualification

The Parliament Support Network (PSN), led by National President Maxwell Idoko, has publicly supported Kingsley Chinda, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Rivers State, amid calls for his disqualification from the 2027 ballot. These calls originated from the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP) following a Supreme Court ruling on sections of the Electoral Act 2026 concerning party membership and candidate nomination.

PSN contends that the Supreme Court's restoration of specific sections of the Electoral Act does not render Chinda ineligible, emphasizing that he joined the party 24 days before the governorship primary, surpassing the 21-day requirement. The group criticized the disqualification campaign as politically motivated and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain neutral.

PSN called for genuine legal complaints to be addressed through the courts rather than public campaigns, stressing the importance of focusing on governance issues ahead of the upcoming elections.
