Armed Herders Kill Three in Benue State Attacks

In renewed attacks by suspected armed herders, at least three individuals were killed and two others injured in Elulu and Agadagba communities within Ohimini Local Government Area, Benue State. The attacks occurred separately between Friday and Saturday night, with the first incident reported in Elulu where one person was killed.

A resident named Ameh stated that the attackers, identified as Fulani herdsmen, attempted to rustle cows in Agadagba on Saturday night but were repelled by local youths, resulting in two deaths among the attackers. Gabriel Adole, the Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area, confirmed both incidents, detailing that the herders also stole a motorcycle during the Elulu attack.

He mentioned that local security personnel and police have been deployed to the affected areas to restore normalcy. The recent violence is linked to ongoing tensions following the killing of Risku Mohammed, the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, on June 24, 2026.
