Bandits Abduct Monarch and Residents in Kwara State

Approximately 10 suspected bandits have kidnapped the traditional ruler of Igbesi town and other residents in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State. The attack occurred over the weekend, during which the monarch and others were taken to an unknown location.

Additionally, Iya Ayoka, the first wife of the Baale of Dabu community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, was also reportedly abducted. This incident has heightened fears among residents, especially given the recent establishment of a Nigerian Army battalion in Omu-Aran town.

The bandits have not yet demanded a ransom for the kidnapped individuals. In a related incident, a 23-year-old woman named Babatunde Fasilat was kidnapped on July 26, 2026, in Wande community, with her kidnappers demanding N20 million for her release.

They are reportedly using her TikTok account to communicate ransom demands, raising further concerns among the community about the activities of armed groups in the region.
