Security Operatives Neutralize Six Armed Group Members in Anambra

On August 22, 2026, joint operatives led by the Anambra State Police Command neutralized six members of an armed group in the Ogbaru Local Government Area. The operation, conducted in Amiyi, was part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal networks.

SP Toochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, reported that the operation involved personnel from the Nigeria Police Force’s Rapid Response Squad, the Department of State Services, the 302 Artillery Regiment, the Nigerian Navy, and community-based Agunachamba operatives. The team trekked for four hours through challenging terrain to reach the suspected camp.

Upon arrival, the suspects opened fire, leading to a gunfight. While six suspects were neutralized, one security operative was killed, and another was injured by an explosive device.

The operation resulted in the recovery of two pump-action guns and charms, and the dismantling of the group's camps. CP Nnanna Oji Ama praised the operatives' professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment to ongoing intelligence-led operations in the state.
