Gunmen Kill Prominent Zamfara Politician on Gusau-Tsafe Highway

Suspected gunmen attacked and killed Alhaji Umar S. Fada Moriki, a prominent politician in Zamfara State, along the Gusau-Tsafe highway.

The victim, aged 62, was a key figure in the state's political landscape. The attack took place on a Saturday morning as he was en route from Gusau to Kaduna.

Alhaji Moriki had a significant political background, having served as the Vice Chairman of Zurmi Local Government Area and later as a special assistant to the governor on rural electrification. The incident occurred shortly after he attended a stakeholder meeting led by Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, Moham Bello Matawalle.

The Zamfara State chapter of the APC confirmed the tragic event in a statement signed by the party's Public Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
