Anambra Police Chief Advocates Sports for Youth Empowerment

Nnanna-Oji Ama, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, addressed the leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Wednesday, urging youths to avoid drugs and engage in positive activities such as sports. This statement was made in anticipation of the upcoming SWAN Games, themed “Sports for Peace and Economic Empowerment,” set to take place at Cosmilla Hotel Sports Arena on August 20 and 21.

Ama highlighted the significance of sports for mental and physical well-being and expressed his support for the police team's participation in the games. He called for collaboration from the media and the community to ensure a crime-free Anambra.

Chimezie Anaso, Chairman of SWAN in Anambra, noted that the event aims to promote physical fitness and healthy relaxation among journalists and participating teams. The Anambra State Football Association and All Stars Football Club of Awka have confirmed their participation in the games.
