Nigeria's Women's Handball Team Squad for IHF Trophy Unveiled

Michael Taangahar, the coach of Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Handball National Team, has unveiled a 16-player squad for the inaugural IHF Women’s Nations Trophy Africa Zone III, scheduled for September 2 to 6, 2026, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The team has been training at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja for several weeks.

In preparation for the tournament, the team will travel to the Benin Republic for friendly matches before heading to Ouagadougou. Nigeria will begin its campaign against Ghana on September 3, followed by a match against the host nation, Burkina Faso, on September 4.

The squad includes players such as Bisi Oyewusi, Matthew Esther, and Ahamefula Chinemerem, among others. Taangahar will be assisted by Innocent Chukwuma Nwankwo as they aim for a strong performance in the tournament.
