Tanker Crash in Suleja Kills Woman and Grandson

A tanker, driven by Muhammad Badamasi, crashed into a house in Suleja around 7 AM, resulting in the deaths of Maryam Shuaibu and her 10-year-old grandson. The crash occurred when Badamasi discovered a brake failure while driving from Minna to Kaduna.

In an attempt to control the vehicle, he struggled to stop it, leading to the tragic incident. Following the crash, local residents, led by Abdulmumini Ahmad, protested by blocking the Suleja-Minna road, expressing frustration over the repeated occurrences of tanker crashes in the area and the lack of compensation for victims.

This was the fourth such incident, and the protesters lamented the poor condition of federal highways. The Niger State Government, represented by Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje, intervened and persuaded the protesters to reopen the highway around 3 PM.

The victims were buried according to Islamic rites. Suleja Area Command ACP Muhammad Sani Musa confirmed the incident.
