Dr Bitrus-Atizwen Daniel Elected NMA Taraba Chairman

Dr Bitrus-Atizwen Daniel was elected as the new chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Taraba State Branch, during the association’s Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference held in Jalingo on Saturday. He succeeds Dr Adamu Hamidu Kara, whose tenure has ended.

In his acceptance speech, Daniel emphasized his commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability, pledging to prioritize the welfare of members and the advancement of healthcare in Taraba State. He acknowledged the peaceful conduct of the election and the contributions of the outgoing executive.

Daniel identified critical issues such as the shortage of medical personnel, increasing workload on doctors, brain drain, inadequate health infrastructure, and insecurity as challenges that require urgent attention. He promised to engage constructively with the government and stakeholders to address these issues.

The newly elected officials include Dr Mathias Zakka (Vice Chairman), Dr Divine Yakong Njadze (Secretary), Dr Caleb Agada (Assistant Secretary), Dr Blessing John (Financial Secretary), Dr Miriam Joshua Aliyu (Treasurer), Dr Bright Ekhibise (Public Relations Officer), and Dr Falilat Bala Suntai (Auditor).
