NMA Enugu Inaugurates New Secretariat, Calls for Unity

On Monday, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Enugu State branch inaugurated its new state secretariat in Enugu. The outgoing leadership, led by Chairman Dr Sunday Okafor, appealed for reconciliation among members, particularly those who distanced themselves during internal disagreements.

The event was attended by senior medical practitioners and past leaders, who recognized the new office as a significant milestone for doctors in the state. Dr Okafor noted that the previous office was inadequate, describing it as a "shop," and emphasized the importance of unity within the association as they prepare for their Annual General Meeting and elections.

He called for members to prioritize collective interests over personal ones. The new secretariat was dedicated by Professor Samuel Ike, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu, who urged practitioners to uphold ethical values and serve humanity selflessly.

Dr Okafor also announced the theme for the 2026 Annual General Meeting, focusing on mitigating health workforce migration in Nigeria.
