Ashumate Unveils Legislative Agenda for Taraba South

Dr. Jesse Ashumate, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Taraba South Senatorial District, presented his legislative agenda in Abuja on Thursday while inaugurating his campaign council for the upcoming general elections. Ashumate, a former Taraba State Commissioner for Finance, emphasized his commitment to enhancing agriculture, security, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

He highlighted the agricultural potential of Taraba South, particularly in rice, yam, and fish production, and called for federal investment to improve infrastructure. Ashumate proposed establishing specialized agricultural institutions, including a fisheries institution and crop research facilities, to support local farmers.

He also addressed insecurity, advocating for a transition from open grazing to modern ranching and the establishment of a state police system with safeguards. Additionally, he pledged to improve healthcare facilities in rural areas and increase federal employment opportunities for constituents.
