TCN Praises Vigilante for Arresting Power Vandal

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 2:30 am, the Omelu Community Vigilante apprehended a suspected vandal, Humphrey Anala, who was attempting to damage a transmission tower along the Benin–Onitsha 330kV Transmission Line. The vigilante group noticed Anala during a routine patrol and intervened as he was trying to loosen the tower base bracing.

Following his arrest, Anala was handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and remains in their custody, awaiting arraignment in court. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) praised the vigilance and commitment of the Omelu Community Vigilante in protecting critical national infrastructure and acknowledged the collaboration with the NSCDC in safeguarding transmission assets.

TCN condemned all acts of vandalism against power infrastructure and urged communities to report any suspicious activities to security agencies or TCN offices.
