TCN Thwarts Theft Attempt at Bauchi Substation

On Friday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully foiled an attempted theft at its 330/132kV transmission substation located in Bauchi. According to Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, security personnel at the substation intercepted suspected vandals who were attempting to remove critical tower members.

Upon noticing the guards, the suspects fled the scene. An inspection of the area resulted in the recovery of 12 transmission tower angle irons, one heavy-duty metal measuring scale, and a white pickup truck believed to have been used in the operation.

The recovered items, along with the vehicle, were handed over to the Railway Division Police Station in Bauchi for further investigation. TCN reported that no equipment was stolen and no injuries occurred during the incident.

The company commended the prompt response of its security team for preventing potential theft or damage to vital transmission infrastructure and urged host communities to report any suspicious activities around power installations.
