Veteran Actor Ogogo Laid to Rest in Ilaro Amid Grief

Taiwo Hassan, a celebrated veteran Yoruba film actor known as Ogogo, was laid to rest on Monday in Ilaro. The burial was attended by family, colleagues, and fans who gathered to pay their respects.

The ceremony was conducted according to Islamic rites, occurring a day after his death, which shocked the Nigerian entertainment industry. Fellow actor Jide Kosoko confirmed arrangements for the burial, which included a lying-in-state for Ogogo's remains.

Mourners, including his daughters Kira and Lima Taiwo, were visibly emotional during the proceedings, which featured Islamic prayers. Ogogo's death at the age of 66 came shortly after his daughters made a public appeal for medical assistance, revealing he was battling stage-four cancer and had been advised against further chemotherapy.

The actor had a long and respected career in the Yoruba film industry, and his passing elicited widespread grief on social media.
