Adeleke Orders Security Review Amid Terror Threats

On 14 September 2026, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered a comprehensive review of security arrangements in the state due to alleged terrorist plots aimed at attacking places of worship. While on vacation in Europe, Adeleke issued a statement through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, urging residents, especially those in border communities, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or unusual movements to security agencies.

He emphasized the importance of community intelligence in preventing potential attacks and announced plans to convene a meeting of the State Security Council upon his return to assess the situation and enhance the state’s security strategy. Adeleke commended the proactive measures taken by the Department of State Services and directed other security agencies to reassess their operational strategies to ensure public safety.

He also called on traditional rulers to organize local security meetings to mobilize communities in identifying unfamiliar persons and suspicious activities.
